No Hays Eaglets in 2015

We are sad to announce that the final egg at the Hays nest was not viable and that there will be no eaglets in 2015.  Despite their vigilance, the Hay's Bald Eagles lost the final eaglet on Friday morning.  According to the Audobon Society of Western PA, one of the adults discarded the cracked egg on the morning of March 27, 2015.  The pair have apparently abandoned the nest for the season.

The Eagles were more successful last year when they reared three eaglets. Their nest sits on a bluff above the Monongahela River in Hays.  Experts say they should return next year to the same spot.  If you watched them last year, you might remember seeing the amazing video of one of the parents fighting off a raccoon who was trying to steal the eggs.  The Eagles in Hanover PA were more successful and have 2 eaglets to raise this year.
